The Canadian Rural Revitalization Foundation (CRRF) and the North Atlantic Forum (NAF) invite proposals for the 2026 CRRF/NAF Conference, to be hosted in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador. The conference will gather community leaders, Indigenous organizations, academics, policymakers, students, and practitioners, and academics to explore pathways for rural sustainability, cross-cultural collaboration, and community wellness. Our main theme, Relational Wellness, emphasizes the interdependence of individuals, communities, and environments, explored through diverse lenses and practices.
Conference Sub-Themes
We invite proposals that align with the following areas:
- Aging and Rural Health – Addressing challenges and opportunities for health and wellness in aging rural populations.
- Indigenous Research Partnerships – Collaborative approaches to knowledge sharing and research
- Circular Economies & Environmental Stewardship – Climate action, food security, marine health, and innovative rural economies.
- Arts, Culture, and Sense of Place – Storytelling, music, creative expression, and identity in rural and Indigenous contexts.
The conference welcomes stories related to the future of rural, northern, and Indigenous communities. Interdisciplinary and cross-cultural approaches are strongly encouraged.
We welcome proposals stories for:
- Individual Presentations (15–20 min)
- Panels or Roundtables (60–90 min; 3–4 speakers)
- Workshops or Interactive Sessions (60–90 min; participatory focus)
- Community Stories & Arts-Based Approaches (music, storytelling, performance, or multimedia)
- Posters or Visual Exhibits (on-site displays with Q&A sessions)
